When I started seeing sugar scrub recipes on Pinterest, I knew I had
to do
some for Christmas. After looking at how different people approached
them I ended up coming up with my own variations {& from what I hear
they turned out pretty good!} We kept a little of
the leftovers for ourselves and I love how they leave your skin feeling super
soft.
For the labels, I customized the Blank Pantry Lables {here} from the pretty blog. The labels I made can be found & printed {here}.
I printed the labels on cardstock & used Tacky glue to attach them
to the metal lids. I used the same glue to secure the lid to the metal
ring & let them dry over night.
The next day I made my scrubs!
Ingredients: white & brown sugars, EVOO, liquid lanolin, vanilla extract, peppermint essential oil, nutmeg, & fresh lemon juice |
The Recipes…
Brown Sugar Vanilla: 12oz (3, 4oz jars)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup EVOO {extra virgin olive oil}
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp liquid lanolin
Peppermint: 8oz (2, 4oz jars)
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup EVOO
1/2 tsp lanolin
10 drops peppermint
1 tsp nutmeg
Lemon: 20 oz (5, 4 oz jars)
2 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup EVOO
1 tsp lanolin
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
These don’t have to be mixed in any special
order, but I added my sugar first, then the olive oil, then any other
ingredients listed & mixed thoroughly.
To present them we used little gift baskets
& lotion we found at Target in the “seasonal” section at the front.
I also printed {these} gorgeous tags from Art by Julie H.
favor bags & Merry Christmas ribbon; gift tags |
we used the “favor” bags to cover the sets of 3 small scrub |
We covered the smaller baskets with clear “bread bags” and added a tag to each one |
For the large baskets we put each jar in a favor bag and left it “open” |
All 7 baskets done! |
As I was one of the lucky recipients of the "Sugar Scrubs" I would like to say "Bravo!"….They smell just delicious, they feel wonderful and are better than some very expensive scrubs i have tried in the past! Nicely done Kate and thank you! I love them all!!
Aww thanks grandma 🙂 I'm glad!!!
These look so awesome! What great homemade gifts. I love to see people giving handemade presents 🙂
Thank you. This was the first year we really went all out on trying to make stuff – we actually ran out of time to do all the things we were planning, but I'm still happy with what we accomplished 🙂
I'm definitely going to try this recipe, looks like fun and I can't wait to see how it turns out!!
Awesome! I got lots of compliments on them so I think they're pretty good… it's a shame I didn't think to make extra for myself! Now I might have to again… 😛
